"Behind my smile there was pain, oh so much pain, but now there is joy. I was in a cocoon struggling to break out, but no longer. I'm flying like a butterfly. My wings are beautiful and strong. There is no stopping me now; let me fly, please. Let me fly. I've waited on this for years. Don't burst my bubble, please do not force me to go back into that ugly cocoon; let me enjoy life." Excerpt from Behind My Smile-The Truth About Vickie Garth Robinson, Chapter Eight 'Breakthrough.'

I remember writing the initial post in my journal as if yesterday. I wrote it on September 10, 2005 at 11:05 am. I had been experiencing a rough patch for some time and felt as though I was all bottled up inside of a cocoon. In certain parts of the book I expressed how I could, at times feel some freedom, but was quickly cut back down to size. I knew I was to be a butterfly and meant to fly; soar without any limits, any boundaries. BUT life happened.

The butterfly has an interesting story. Its conception begins inside of a cocoon. Have you ever wondered how a butterfly fly? A butterfly learns to fly from the struggle of being encased inside of its cocoon. Even when the cocoon begins to give way and provide a tiny opening, the butterfly has to learn how to squeeze itself out of that tiny hole.

In reality life has so many ups and downs, highs and lows, good and bad scenarios. One can easily get down in the dumps and want to throw in the towel and give up. I often hear people say this: "THE STRUGGLE IS REAL." Usually what that means is someone being totally transparent and admitting they're experiencing some type of tough time or hardship.

So much more could be said about the butterfly, but the one thing I love the most is this: It doesn't do a butterfly any good for someone to cut the cocoon open wider while it is learning how to wiggle(struggle) its way out. It needs the struggle. In essence when we are going through a rough patch, we need to know the struggle, so we can appreciate the wings and flying to new higher heights.
